"Spiritual Warriors" List
There is also a "Spiritual Warriors" mailing list. This list is more exclusive. The following describes (current, working definition) the focus of this group:
- Spiritual Warrior:
- A Spiritual Warrior is dedicated to his/her spiritual path above all. They seek the relinquishment of the self, over "knowing the self", as a means of unity and cooperation with the divine. They acquire power by their actions, but don't seek to be powerful.
- Spiritual Warriors are "in the world", but not "of" the world. They stand out in conversation, but blend into crowds. Their values are strength, honesty, integrity, courage, discipline, acceptance, and selfless service. They have often experienced considerable sacrifice and challenges on their spiritual path. The warrior experiences fear, but never shows it or becomes bogged down with it.
- Spiritual Warriors exist as a bridge, a light, and an outstretched hand to others they encounter. They unfailingly challenge the ideas and attitudes of others, and can even seem harsh or "not nice", when their words or actions are misinterpreted. They graciously accept such challenges from others with respect and understanding. They act for the benefit of others, rather than for themselves. The warrior knows that it's not about being "nice", but about taking "right action" (Dharma) with kindness and compassion.
- A Spiritual Warrior is never a member of any sect, cult, or lingers long in any discipline or faddish culture. They take a higher view of their spiritual knowledge and so don't get lost in details or popular interests.
